Version Q
Console-to-QLab Bridge.
Version Q bridges your mixing console to QLab — recall a scene on the desk, fire a cue in QLab. No extra hardware, no complex MIDI routing. Just a lightweight macOS menu bar app that listens and triggers.
Coming to the Mac App Store — pending Apple review

Supported consoles
- Allen & Heath dLive / Avantis / SQ / Qu (TCP MIDI)
- Allen & Heath Director (remote connection via IP)
- Behringer / Midas X32 / M32 (network protocol)
- Behringer WING (network protocol)
How it works
- Launch Version Q — it lives in your menu bar.
- Select your console from the auto-discovered list (or enter an IP for Director).
- Choose your QLab workspace (auto-discovered via Bonjour).
- Set your OSC cue template (e.g. "S" for cues S1, S2, S3…).
- Recall a scene on your console — Version Q fires the matching QLab cue.
Scene 1 → /cue/S1/go Scene 2 → /cue/S2/go
It's that simple.
Features
- Auto-discovery of consoles and QLab workspaces on the local network
- Configurable OSC cue template with scene number mapping
- CoreMIDI bridge — exposes console MIDI as a virtual source / destination on your Mac
- MIDI trigger capture — assign any Note On or CC message to toggle OSC output
- Fire-on-connect option to trigger the current scene when the console connects
- OSC remote control — enable / disable output via /versionq/osctxenable
- Lock screen to prevent accidental changes during a show
- Mini player floating window for quick status
- Activity log for monitoring all traffic
Tips
- Use "Fire on Connect" for failover — if the app reconnects after a dropout, it resends the current scene.
- The MIDI bridge lets apps like Ableton, Logic, or MainStage talk directly to your console over the network.
- Set a MIDI trigger (e.g. a spare CC on a foot controller) to mute / unmute OSC output without opening the app.
- Send /versionq/osctxenable with argument 1 or 0 from Companion or another OSC source for remote control.
- The lock screen prevents accidental setting changes mid-show — tap the lock icon in the sidebar.
Requirements
- macOS 14.6 or later
- Console and QLab on the same network
- Free on the Mac App Store (pending review)
Privacy
Version Q operates entirely on your local network. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. No analytics, no telemetry, no accounts. Your show data stays on your network.
